The long and short of it

Finally, I'm feeling human again! Yesterday I could feel the fog lifting, but today, I feel 'almost' back to normal. Either that, or I'm just getting used to what it feels like to not feel normal - which leads to the inevitable question of what exactly 'normal' is?!

Today was a perfect day. I woke up with a killer headache, mostly due to the lack of caffeine over the past few days, but happily my coffee tasted somewhat normal this morning and that headache passed quickly!

Kelli and Mads came over this afternoon carrying some gorgeous flowers and a big basket full of fresh buttermilk biscuits - handmade by Kelli. Wow, they were good!! I told Ole that I should get the recipe, but I actually liked his solution better - he said "just tell Kelli that she'll need to make them and bring them over!".

So, let's get to the long and short of it. Since college, my hair has been pretty long, usually below my shoulders anyway. This is a picture Kelli took a few weeks ago...

But, with my treatments, it is pretty much a given that I'll be losing my hair. So, in preparation for that, I had it all cut off. It's taken me more than a week to be able to accept the fact that my hair is short. I keep forgetting that I cut it. If I have a bit of a headache, I keep reaching around to pull out my ponytail only to be reminded that it's not there! Anyway, here's the new me...

  5. You look lovely....actually, I don't know if this was what you were aiming for, but you do look younger. I mean, if you don't want to look younger you can sock me in the mouth for saying that, but you do, you look younger.

I didn't mean you look immature, no, I meant, you look, erm....younger..

    *digs deeper and deeper hole*

    LOL

I never know the right thing to say so I just say what i see :)

  8. You look great but I understand the shock of losing your long hair. I have long hair also now and have jokingly said I'm not cutting it off until I'm down to 75kilos....well.......figuring I might be walking on my hair by the time I actually managed to lose so much weight I've decided to cut my hair tomorrow..so I'm doing a bob...nervous as heck..and keep wondering if I'm doing the right thing..but what the hey...it grows out again..and yours will too in time my dear...chin up!!

  12. Very flattering. Is this the same Kelli that visits Tara with mac cheese? Is she some sort of Scandinavian fairy godmother?

  14. I have to agree with everyone else...you look beautiful with the short hair! It makes you look younger, actually.

I admire your courage during this time. Even though I hate my hair sometimes, I would hate it even more to lose it.

Hugs to you....glad you are feeling "normal."

  15. Thank you all for the kind comments! My short hair makes me feel like a soccer mom, something I am definitely not, but I'll take looking younger any day. :) Love it or not, I'm told it's a matter of weeks before it's gone and then who knows what fun arrives when it starts to grow back!

honeypiehorse - yes, it's the same Kelli and honestly, I'd have to say that yes, she is some sort of fairy godmother in these parts!
